Emergency numbers for Faqra and Faraya: Red Cross, Civil Defence, the local pharmacy, ski patrol hours, and what to do if you're stuck on the mountain road.
What to Know
- Save 140 (Red Cross), 125 (Civil Defence), 112 (police) and Karl on WhatsApp before you drive up.
- There is no hospital on the mountain, the nearest care is down toward the coast.
- Ski patrol only covers marked runs during lift hours.
- If you're stuck on the road, stay with the car and call us first.
Put these numbers in your phone before you leave Beirut. Signal is patchy on the plateau, and it is much easier to tap a contact than to search for one on the side of the road.

Before you arrive

- 2Know that there is no hospital on the mountain, ask us on arrival where the nearest care actually is.
- 3Check your travel insurance covers skiing; many policies exclude it.
- 4If you are travelling alone, tell someone at home your dates and where you are staying.
If something happens on the mountain
During lift operating hours, alert the nearest lift operator or ski patrol.
Off the marked runs, there is no patrol. This is why touring alone is a bad idea here.
If something happens on a walk
Signal is patchy on the plateau and ridges. Don't rely on being able to call.
Tell someone your route before you set out.
Turn back early. Dark comes by 4:30 in January.
If you're stuck on the road
Don't abandon the car in a bad position if you can avoid it.
Call us. We're up here, we know the road, and we'll know who to contact.
The most useful thing
Ask before you go. If you're unsure about the road, the weather or a walk, message us. We'd far rather have that conversation than the other one.
We watch the forecast and message every guest a road update the day before arrival. If we think you shouldn't drive up, we'll say so.

What's the ambulance number in Lebanon?
The Lebanese Red Cross is 140. Confirm it still is before you rely on it, numbers do change.
Is there a hospital near Faqra?
Not on the mountain. The nearest hospitals are down toward the coast. For anything serious, call 140 and tell Karl so we can help with the road.
Is there ski patrol?
Yes, but only on marked runs during lift hours. Off-piste and after close, you are on your own.
Will I have signal on walks?
Not reliably, especially on the plateau and ridges. Tell someone your route before you set out.
What if I'm stuck on the road?
